President Museveni Orders Closure of Schools And Universities

During his presidential address regarding the coronavirus status in Uganda, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni issued a ban on all public gatherings starting with schools that he said keep about fifteen million people together.

He said this following the decision of neighbouring countries including Kenya and Rwanda to have their schools close to cub the widespread of the coronavirus.

The president said that the virus spreads fast among people gathered in large crowds thus his decision to have schools and public facilities be closed temporarily for a month.

“The government has decided that these 50,000, 51,000 points approximately should close, all of them temporarily tertiary institutions for one month starting with Friday the 20th of March 2020 starting at midday,” said President Museveni.
