Mbale Central Market has been closed for non-compliance with the COVID-19 guidelines and procedural standards. The closure involved Police firing teargas to disperse rowdy vendors who were trying to force their way into the market. Elgon region Police Spokesperson Rogers Taitika attributed the move to overcrowding and non-adherence to the presidential and health guidelines to stop the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
