269 people have been arrested for their alleged involvement in crimes and unprecedented incidents, during the just-concluded National Resistance Movement (NRM) primary elections.

This after many critics have been impelled to come out and speak against the rowdy behaviour of individuals, including, the Electoral Commission chairman Justice Simon Byabakama, who has condemned the violence in the NRM primaries.

“The outcome of an election is not determined by how much blood has been spilt,” said the Electoral Commission Chairperson Byabakama.

According to the CID Spokesperson, Twine Charles, the arrested people committed electoral related offences including inciting violence, attempted murder, unlawful possession of electoral materials, forgeries, and other electoral malpractices.
