Yesterday, the Masaka Chief Magistrates Court sent NUP Members of Parliament, Muhammad Ssegirinya of Kawempe North Constituency and Allan Ssewanyana of Makindye West Constituency to Kitalya Maximum Prison over their alleged connection to the panga wielding murders in Masaka. The police says the suspects they netted have told them how they plotted the killings in Kampala.

While appearing on the Morning Breeze this morning. The NUP spokesperson who is also the Member of Parliament for Nakawa West described the arrests as a big joke that has gone too far. Ssenyonyi said the government has been trying to link the murders to NUP,

“They are trying to link the murders in Masaka to NUP. But we (NUP) got overwhelming votes in that area. Why would we want to kill people there? Someone is trying to create a diversion because of the mounting pressure,” said Ssenyonyi

The two legislators are to appear in court again on 15th September 2020.
