Minister Jane Ruth Aceng Updates Nation on COVID-19

Minister of Health Jane Ruth Aceng has hinted on people above 50 and those with comorbidities getting booster shorts for COVID-19 vaccines if the country gets 50% vaccination threshold recommended by the World Health Organisation. Aceng revealed this at a presser this afternoon on the country’s COVID-19 situation.

Aceng also said vaccines can now be mixed and matched without any problems, watch details in the video below;

Minister Aceng advised Ugandans to take vaccination exercise seriously and other SOPs such as wearing masks, hand washing and social distancing as the Omicron Variant cases hit 73. Aceng said the increase of cases is being observed in the border district and amongst travellers from Kenya, UAE, S.A, South Sudan DRC, Nigeria and UK.

Aceng said as of today, 23rd December 2021, 85 patients are in various hospitals across. The country has accumulated 130,888 #COVID19 cases. 98,127 have recovered, 710 new cases, and 3,274 have succumbed to the disease.

Aceng also revealed that clinical trial for Covidex will begin in January 2022. This will provide information as to whether it treats or is supportive treatment for COVID-19. 

As the country is looking forward to full opening of the economy this January, Aceng has advised all Ugandans to be responsible.
