Political activist Kakwenza arrested

It is suspected that Kakwenza’s arrest is due to a tweet on December 27 that was targeted at the first son, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba who is also the commander of the Land Forces.

Currently under house arrest. Gunmen are breaking into my house by force.

He was announced this year’s winner of the PEN Pinter Prize for an International Writer of Courage award which goes to an author deemed to have fulfilled Harold Pinter’s aspiration to “define the real truth of our lives and our societies”.
