Bank of Uganda Governor Mutebile Succumbed to COVID19

According to Dr Ben Mbonye the Head of Nakasero Hospital, Prof. Emmauel Mutebile succumbed to #COVID19. Mbonye revealed that COVID-19 played a big role in the death of Mutebile as the deceased had underlying conditions whose severity was accelerated by Corona virus.

Today, Friday the 28th January, Mutebile’s final send off prayers was held at Kololo Air Strip with President Museveni gracing the event briefly and he talked to mourners. Museveni praised Mutebile for his contribution to the economy.

The contributions of the Mutebiles were in three areas; controlling liquidity, floating the shilling and privatisation.

He was very dedicated. If you wanted a paper in a few days, he would produce it. I would like to extend my condolences to Ugandans, his family and I pray God grants him eternal peace,” President Museveni

The widow, Betty Mutebile eulogised her husband as a man who was social and a gentleman who spoke little and dedicated his life to his work.

Emmanuel respected everyone and made everyone feel special. He would not refuse anyone to see him. Sunday, I would prepare a buffet, and he would have a one-on-one with everyone who wanted to see him,” Mrs. Betty Mutebile

Mutebile will be buried on Sunday at his ancestral home in Kabale.
