Minister for Karamoja Agnes Nandutu on the Security Situation in Karamoja

The Minister for Karamoja Agnes Nandutu has blamed the community for the ongoing insecurity in Karamoja. Nandutu says this is triggered by poverty, however poverty shouldn’t be an excuse for criminality since the government is doing everything to help the community come out of poverty, she encouraged the Karimojong to work themselves out of poverty.

Nandutu has defended the leaders and the UPDF who have been accused of not doing much to calm the situation in Karamoja.

It is wrong to say the UPDF is not working and the leaders are not working, we are all working together,” Minister for Karamoja Agnes Nandutu.

Nandutu says the government is working with Kenya to ensure peace prevails in the Karamoja region.
