Political leaders in Teso sub-region are concerned about the increasing cases of teenage pregnancy and early marriage in the area. The region’s teenage pregnancy rate stands at 31%, way higher than the national figures at 25%.

 

This has unfortunately, resulted in most teenagers dying while giving birth, something that contributes to the high maternal mortality rate every year.

We really have to do all we can to reverse the trends to give girls a chance. 31% TP in Teso region is the highest rate in Uganda. – Anne Alan Sizomu
