The NBS housing Baraza very much lived to the billing with hundreds of participants ranging from government officials, policymakers, sector experts, and the general public who came together at Serena Hotel to discuss the future of the countries housing sector.

The Baraza attracted a cross-section of people

President Museveni’s keynote message was delivered by the second deputy prime minister who raised the need for legislation and policies to ensure Ugandans get decent affordable houses.

“Put in place supportive policies and legislation to enable stakeholders to fully participate without any encumbrances,” the message read in part.

He said, “You find that someone has the latest iPhone, Samsung, HTC costing the range of 3 to 4 million but they are renting. That money can be used to start steps to own a home or start a mortgage,”

The state minister for lands, housing, and urban development Chris Baryomunsi revealed the bottlenecks that are affecting their efforts to fix the housing deficiencies in Uganda.
