Minister Jane Ruth Aceng Out of Speakership Race

The Minister of Health Jane Ruth Aceng expressed interest to take on the Speaker position that fell vacant with the passing of Jacob Oulanyah.

Aceng was among thirteen NRM MPs vying to carry the party flag in the Friday poll to elect the new Speaker. The Central Executive Committee of the NRM is sitting today, Wednesday to choose the flagbearer of the party.

I’ve taken a decision to withdraw my intention to stand for the Position of Speaker of Parliament Uganda. I have not had enough time to consult my party leadership, colleagues and family.
I pledge to continue serving diligently in my current capacity as Minister for Health,” Jane Ruth Aceng.
