In a candid appearance on the NBS Morning Breeze, Amb. Wasswa Birigwa, the Chairperson of FDC (Katonga), extended an olive branch to Gen. Mugisha Muntu. Birigwa acknowledged that over the years, Muntu’s previous statement about true moles within the party had proven accurate.

He stated, “As Mugisha Muntu once said, one day you will know who the true moles are. What he said then has taken several years, but it has come through, and I thank him for that. For me, personally, I say, forgive us.”

While discussing the leadership controversy within the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Birigwa emphasized that their group is not a faction but a fraction, asserting their place within the FDC. He acknowledged the party’s origins, highlighting the sacrifices and financial contributions made by individuals to establish and sustain the FDC.

Commenting on the recent legal proceedings related to the FDC’s leadership, Birigwa explained that they took the legal route because they believed it was the right thing to do. He pointed out that it was essential to address the issue of holding elections and swearing in new leaders before their term had ended.

In response to the question of whether the FDC is in disarray, Birigwa distinguished between the leaders and members. He mentioned that the members are unwavering and committed to the party’s values, while the leadership faces challenges.

Amb. Wasswa Birigwa also outlined his plans to implement resolutions from the delegates’ conference and stressed the importance of grassroots elections to strengthen the FDC.
