MPs Propose Mandatory Graduate Service
A section of youth Members of Parliament want a law to have mandatory hands-on work for a year before they can look for jobs. Three Youth Members of Parliament say this will help in reducing the increasing unemployment amongst the youth in the country.
The members are now asking for leave of parliament to enable them enact a bill entitled National Service Graduate Bill, 2016.
According to the proposal, all fresh graduates from both tertiary institutions and Ugandan universities will be deployed in various professional institutions for hands-on work experience with monthly facilitation from government.
