Reactions to the Twin Blasts in Kampala

The National Unity Platform and its party chairman Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu have called on the general public to remain vigilant in the face of bomb blasts.

“We send our deepest condolences to the families whose loved ones have lost their lives in today’s tragic explosions. We pray for a timely recovery for those injured and struggling for their lives. Such times call for vigilance amongst citizens,” said NUP via Twitter.

The Forum for Democratic Party called on the security officers to make use of the CCTV cameras that were installed.

“In 2019 the NRM regime spent $126M on CCTV systems supplied by Huawei, promising to end crimes. We must get to the bottom of the attack (s) with material evidence. Parliament & CPS are key spots equipped with surveillance. Our prayers to the victims of the city bombings,” FDC reacted.

Dr. Kizza Besigye described the situation as a crisis.

“Terrible signs of the deep and fulminating crisis in our country! Heartfelt sympathy for all the innocent people who died and were injured in the Kampala City bomb blasts,” Kizza Besigye.

The death toll stands at six, with three suicide bombers dying long. Thirty Three people were injured, five are critical. The police has linked the attack to a case of domestic terrorism linked to the ADF.
