The Ministry of Health is prioritizing extension of health services to communities in a bid to curb rising disease burden and mortality.

In an interview with NBS Television, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary Dr Diana Atwine said the rehabilitation, construction and equipping of health facilities will go a long way in improving health care.

Failure to receive adequate care when sick, poorly equipped health facilities and lack of qualified personnel has for several years been a major contributor to Uganda’s mortality question. The Ministry of Health says as they struggle to equip several facilities that have already received a facelift, more upgrades of health centers are expected across the country.

Our desire is to ensure that all those districts that require a hospital have them,” Dr. Diana Atwine

Dr Diana Atwine says they are concretizing a list of health facilities to be upgraded. Among them will be Wakiso Health Centre 4, Busolwe, Buhweju and Kambuga among others.
