Gen Kayihura Suspends Officers Cited in Police Brutality


The Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura suspended officers accused of leading the operation in which supporters of opposition figure Col (rtd) Kizza Besigye were clobbered.
The Deputy Police Spokesperson Polly Namaye confirmed that the IGP Police removed the commander of Kampala Metropolitan Police south Andrew Kaggwa, pending conclusion of the disciplinary proceedings in which he is accused of beating Dr Besigye supporters using sticks, an act that tainted the police image.
The Police also transferred several officers the changes that have been communicated this morning.
