Schools Turn To Grazing Grounds

It has been about 98 days since learning institutions were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The team moved through several schools in Tororo to observe the state of the schools in the region, particularly the government funded schools.

Some school heads have had their school accounts frozen by the government in an apparent bid to cut access to the UPE grants. Due to the lack of activity in the school compounds and the easy access the surrounding people have, school fields are used for grazing, school equipment has been either destroyed or stolen and there have been cases of drug abuse.

School heads are now pleading for access to the accounts so they can maintain their schools.
