The ruling party’s Primaries have turned out to be marred with violence, intimidation, bribery, and in many parts of the country. The voter register in Hoima has gone missing.
Several voters are missing from the register, and there are many allegations that some names were erased in many parts of the country.
There is the use of the might of power by most incumbents. The army has come out strongly to condemn the misuse of bodyguards by the politicians, but this seems to be falling on deaf ears.
Sembabule is one of the most dangerous zones. The NRM Party Headquarter has taken over the electoral process in the district.
Koboko, on the other hand, sees Minister Anite and Ayume neck to neck. Anite’s posters were vandalized, and she accuses her competitor.
In Jinja, there are two camps; the ‘Palestine and Israel,’ and both are vowing they must win at all cost.
President Museveni has come out to guide the electoral process. In his guidance, Museveni says all NRM party members in and out of the register must be allowed to vote provided they are above 18 years.
The president also urges members to follow the #COVID19 SOPs that seem to have jumped out of the window. There are fears that the NRM Primaries is a reflection of what will happen in the 2021 elections.
