The Supreme Court has dismissed the application to amend the Kyagulanyi Petition on the ground(s) that all matters raised therein, except the one touching the qualification of the 1st respondent President Museveni, are not new.

The EC legal team, NRM legal team and the Attorney General unanimously agreed that amendment of the election petition is not provided for by law and that filing for an election petition is time-bound.

The NUP legal team prayed that court should allow the amendment of the petition since their candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu was under house arrest for ten days out of the fifteen days he had to petition.

The election petition hearing kicks of this Thursday.
