President of Chad dies in clashes with rebels

Chad‘s President Idriss Deby killed in clashes with northern rebels shortly after winning re-election, the army says.

Chad‘s Army has selected former President Idriss Deby’s son, Gen. Mahamat Idriss Deby to be the new Head of State. Gen. Mahamat Idriss Deby is a 4-star general and will be the Head of the Military Council.
