OBONGI: Alleged Extortion Taint PDM Implementation

A section of government officials overseeing the implementation of the Parish Development Model program in Obongi district is on the spot over alleged extortion from the beneficiaries.

Obongi Resident District Commissioner Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka said his office received reliable intelligence reports that some residents were told to pay UGX 15,000 to be included on the list of Parish Development Model beneficiaries.

Hashaka said due to anomalies in the implementation of the Parish Development Model, some of the beneficiaries registered in the 28 parish SAACOs across the district were civil servants who were not meant to be part of the 39% vulnerable household members targeted by the program.
