Opposition leader Patrick Oboi Amuriat of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has asked grassroots supporters to stay calm amid internal disagreements. The party is facing problems within its local structure in Teso sub-region due to allegations of improper funding.

Chaos emerged in Serere district when some unhappy FDC members protested what they saw as an unjust party election process. This group claims they were ousted for supporting Dr. Kizza Besigye’s Katonga faction. The district party members are split, with one faction supporting President Patrick Amuriat and the other backing Dr. Kizza Besigye.

Amuriat, along with other party leaders, are now in Teso to ease the situation and reconcile the conflicting groups, assuring that things will settle down.
