Police recently blocked an FDC seminar slated for the parking lot at Namboole stadium. According to the FDC, they wrote a letter to the country’s internal affairs minister requesting for police permission to hold the function but heard no word from the police till the weekend denying their request. Due to the timing of the police’s denial, a number of delegates from all over the country had already made their way to the region and on approaching the venue found it closed off by the police.

In response the FDC leaders met at their Kampala offices and proceeded to march to their Party Headquarters in Najjanankumbi and were joined by supporters. Police proceeded to intervene by hosing people down with water and making arrests of both the public and party leaders.
