Corruption is a vice the Ugandan government has campaigned against for years, but it seems to keep growing strong each year with several incidents of top government officials being involved in scandals.

After many years of teachers grieving about their salary increment, poor living standards, and, most recently, the effects of COVID19, the money that was given to them by the President was swindled.

About UGX 11 billion that was given to teachers by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has gone missing. According to CID Spokesperson Charles Twine, four people have been arrested, and investigations are ongoing to find out circumstances under which the funds vanished before it got to the beneficiaries.

The big question remains, ” Why is corruption still rampant in Uganda, and do the convicted get the punishment they deserve ?”
