What is a sniffer device?
A sniffer is a software or hardware tool that allows the user to “sniff” or monitor your internet traffic in real-time, capturing all the data flowing to and from your computer.
Following President Yoweri Museveni’s proposal to install sniffer devices in CCTV cameras to detect bombs, experts in information technology have warned that the technology is too expensive for Uganda to afford.
They say sniffer technology is mainly used in larger global economies and could cripple other sectors for a small economy like Uganda.
