Dr. Kizza Besigye, former president of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), has initiated a regional mobilization effort ahead of the national delegates conference this month. His campaign began in Fortportal City, where he met with FDC leaders from the Tooro and Rwenzori subregions and criticized recent party elections as illegal.

Accusations and counter-accusations within the FDC caused division in the Tooro sub-region, with factions in Najjanankumbi and Katonga conducting separate activities. Dr. Kizza Besigye gathered with current party leadership from both sub-regions and other supporters in Fort Portal City.

Meanwhile, the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) in Kampala expressed concern about the FDC’s internal disputes, seeing it as a threat to opposition unity. PPP has advised FDC leaders to seek resolution through neutral mediation and has written to them accordingly.
