Following a recent court ruling on September 18, 2023, which extended the injunction against the Extraordinary Delegates Conference organized by Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) National Chairman Wasswa Birigwa, today, September 19 2023, FDC delegates convened at Dr. Kizza Besigye’s office in Katonga.

The delegates turned to Dr. Besigye’s office after being denied access to Nature’s Green Beach in Busabala, where they had initially planned to hold the conference.

At Dr. Besigye’s office, the delegates convened to address the underlying issues within the FDC. Tensions were running high, and the future of the party hung in the balance.

During the Extraordinary Delegates Conference, proposals were made to suspend key party leaders, including Party President Amuriat, Secretary-General Nandala, and Treasurer-General Ekanya. Additionally, there was a proposal to establish an interim electoral commission responsible for organizing free and fair party elections.

Dr. Kizza Besigye, a prominent figure in the FDC, expressed optimism about the party’s future. He stated, “Together, we are saying the liberation has just engaged a new gear. The Lord made it so that even when other roads have been closed, Katonga has been opened to receive you.”

He further emphasized the party’s commitment to fighting for democratic transformation in the country, highlighting the critical moment FDC finds itself in.
