President Museveni’s Birthday: Focus on Poverty Eradication and Education
On Friday, September 9 2023, President Yoweri Museveni marked his 79th birthday alongside celebrations commemorating the 1985 NRA Katonga war victory. During this momentous occasion, President Museveni shifted his focus towards eradicating poverty among Ugandans while issuing a stern warning to private school proprietors regarding exorbitant fee charges, which he believes are a source of frustration for parents and adversely affecting the education sector.
The celebrations began with a grand procession as supporters from all five divisions of Kampala marched through the city center, culminating in a gathering at Kololo Independence Grounds. Here, the President’s supporters were treated to a music concert featuring artists from various regions of the country, who entertained both the President and his enthusiastic supporters.
At precisely 2:00 pm, President Museveni arrived at the event and was greeted with a diverse range of entertainment, including performances by comedians.
Vice President Jessica Alupo and other dignitaries praised President Museveni for his steadfast leadership and urged the youth, affectionately referred to as Bazukulu, to emulate his example.
In response, President Museveni expressed his gratitude for the love and support of the youth and pledged to redirect his focus towards addressing the issue of poverty, particularly prevalent among the younger generation.
In pursuit of this goal, President Museveni issued a stern warning to schools charging high fees. He emphasized that these exorbitant fees not only hinder the education sector but also impede overall development.
