Residents of Kidawa village, Police, Human Rights activists and district leaders held a meeting to resolve a long-standing land conflict in Mulunda Subcounty.

This meeting came after a 65-year old widow was thrown off her land by her husband’s family on grounds that she did not give birth to a boy child.

After Topista Nyasuna lost her 50-acre piece of land, this meeting was held to give both parties to explain the circumstances under which she lost her land.

During the meeting, Nyasuna stated that upon the death of her husband 40 years ago, the clan chose one of the sons of her late brother-in-law as her husband’s heir since she has never had a boy.

The community tasked Joseph Okello, her brother-in-law to explain why he had forced the widow off her land. He shamelessly told the gathering that Nyasuna did not have any boy child who would have inherited her husband’s properties which amused the gathering.
