Patients in Soroti Regional Referral Hospital have expressed concern following the blood shortage at the facility.

Medics say the outcry is due to blood scarcity at the blood bank, the only entity providing blood supplies to the hospital stores.

The crisis that has stretched for two days now left patients worried, especially those in the children’s ward.

The regional referral serves the 12 districts of Teso region, and the major concern is anaemic patients, accident victims, and new mothers who may need a blood transfusion.

Dr Ben Watmon, the hospital director, confirmed the crisis though he couldn’t give details.
